Celebrating National Mentoring Month! Every January, communities across the country celebrate National Mentoring Month—a time dedicated to recognizing the incredible impact mentors have on the lives of young people. It’s a moment to honor volunteer mentors, uplift stories of life-changing matches, and inspire more caring adults to step forward. In Idaho, where so many kids are waiting for someone to show up just for them, this month is especially meaningful.

Why “Paint the Town Green”? 💚

Green is the color of growth, possibility, and hope—everything mentoring creates.

Throughout January, we’re “painting the town green” to spread awareness about the need for mentors across Idaho. When you see green stickers, signs, or lights around town, they’re all part of a community-wide effort to shine a bright light on mentoring and how it transforms the future.

Green represents:

  • 🌱 Planting seeds of potential

  • 🌿 Nurturing growth through consistent support

  • 🌳 Strengthening Idaho’s future one relationship at a time

 

Why Mentoring Matters

Strong, consistent relationships with caring adults change lives. Research shows that young people with mentors are more likely to:

  • Stay in school and improve academic performance

  • Build stronger social-emotional skills

  • Avoid risky behaviors

  • Set higher goals for their futures

  • Develop confidence and resilience

In Idaho, hundreds of youth are waiting for a mentor. When a young person has someone who shows up for them—listens, encourages, and believes in them—it ripples into families, neighborhoods, and the future of our state.

Mentoring doesn’t require perfection. Just presence.
