BIG momentum in 2022

Despite the continuing presence of Covid-19 and the Omicron surge impacting our community, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho started 2022 with a BIG bang! Jumping straight into National Mentoring Month with various radio, web, print, and TV news stories, our message to recruit more Bigs resonated throughout the valley far and wide. Results are still coming in, but there’s no doubt that inquiries are up and there have been days where we’ve seen new applicants in the double digits. Our enrollment and match team are hard at work to process these inquiries, and we look forward to getting these new volunteers interviewed to find just the right Little for them. Our process is very intentional, with great care given to each step of the process. The effort that all parties put into the matching process fulfills our mission to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.  We are so proud of our volunteers, our families, and our staff for the strong start we already are experiencing in 2022!

To sustain this momentum, we are thrilled to welcome Cami Ruh Clemo to the Match Support Team. Cami Ruh (pronounced like Roo from Winnie the Pooh) grew up in Northeast Boise climbing Castle Rock and swimming at the Boise Natatorium.

She worked for the City of Boise as a lab technician for almost 20 years before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Water Resource Management. She is passionate about arts and science bringing a wealth of resources to the matches she serves. She also has served as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Canyon County’s 4-H Youth Development Services and in Youth Programming at Ada County Community Libraries.

Her husband was a School Site Big Brother of the Year, and he had such a great experience with the organization that she decided to become a part of the staff team. We couldn’t be happier about her decision to #JoinTheVillage.
