2009 Big Brother of the Year
Big Brother Scott Macpherson and Little Brother Craig

Big Brother Scott has been matched with his Little Brother, Craig for almost two years now.  Scott has been very flexible with his schedule, and goes above and beyond to ensure that they get together even when they face scheduling difficulties. Scott has been a great male role model and influence in Craig’s life, encouraging him to succeed in school and encourage him to strive towards going to college.  Scott pushes Craig to have goals and work towards his dreams. Scott has  been an advocate for showing Craig that he can be successful and be anything he wants to if he puts his mind to it.


Scott was an advocate for getting Craig signed up to receive a Bogus Basin scholarship this year and diligently took Craig up to the mountain for every lesson and back to the ski hill almost every week to practice his newly learned skills. Craig became a very good snowboarder and realized that he has gained a life long skill. Scott made a video of all of Craig’s days on the mountain, showing him improving throughout the season.  Together they made and distributed  thank you cards to Big Brothers Big Sisters and Bogus Basin thanking us for the opportunity. Scott is constantly providing the example of showing appreciation for opportunities.  
 

Scott is involved in nearly every event that Big Brothers Big Sisters has.  Scott attends Magical Moments and Bowl For Kids Sake. Scott is very passionate about his relationship with Craig and helping Craig see his options as he becomes a young adult.  Craig has become such a nice young man over the past few years, he is very polite and helpful. Scott’s influence on Craig is obvious and will be seen for many years to come.
