"Men In Need," a local commercial encouraging men to volunteer as a Big Brother, aired in Boise in the fall of 2006 and 2007. Click to find out how the success of the commercial is receiving national attention.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America recently announced that the Men In Need television ad campaign is now available to all
Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies. With support from Bank of America, this
newest BBBS commercial created in Boise will be used around the country to recruit men as volunteers.
In the campaign, men are shown doing every day things—like shooting hoops or
starting the lawn mower—but they are doing them very badly. The little boys are
offering their help, wisdom and friendship to these “men in need” as Little
Brothers.
The new ads were produced by North By Northwest and are based on the original
testimonial campaign produced by Stoltz Marketing for Big Brothers Big Sisters
of Southwest Idaho. That campaign yielded tremendous results, including a 42%
increase in male volunteer recruitment.
The ad was also tested in six markets across the US to see if other agencies
would yield the same results, and in many cases it did! A BIG thanks to the
brave “test” agencies: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson, Kansas Big Brothers
Big Sisters, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas, Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas,
Hernando and Citrus Communities and Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas.
