TEAM CAPTAIN SECRETS FOR SUCCESS PDF Print E-mail
On behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho (BBBS), thank you for accepting a leadership role for our 2008 Bowl for Kids’ Sake event! Your Team Captain duties are to Recruit, Get, and Remind.

Recruit – Get – Remind

1. Recruit four other people—friends, co-workers, spouse or neighbors—to complete your five person team. Once you have completed your team, let BBBS know you have a team by filling out a Team Roster Form.  You can find a roster online www.bbbsidaho.org or we can mail one to you.  Please ensure we have a copy of your form either by filling it out online or fax/mailing it to our office.

2. Get sponsors! You and your team members need to start collecting sponsors. Encourage your team members to collect as many donations as they can. Please remember this is a fundraising event and each bowler’s goal should be a minimum of $100 in pre-collected monies.  Take a look at Ideas For Raising Money, which has some creative and fun ways to raise money.

We have a new online fundraising page for collecting pledges.  This process is simple, fast and secure.  There is a step by step process on our event website

3.  Remind your team members of the time and location of the bowling event. All team members should arrive 30 minutes early to get their shoes and settled in on their designated lane.   As a team captain, you are responsible for having all of the team’s pledges along with the pledge forms as you register your team at the registration table.

Ask your Bowlers to…

1. Secure sponsors from as many people as possible – friends, family, co-workers, spouse or neighbors. There are many good ideas in our Bowler Tip Sheet and Ideas For Raising Money sheet.

2. Check with their employer to see if they will match pledges.

3. Turn in money along with their completed pledge form to you (the Team Captain) on the day of the bowling event.  All online fundraising totals should be included on the pledge form too.

Thank you again for your participation. You are helping us create the foundation of our children’s future by giving them a few of life’s “Magic Moments” and an adult mentor to share them with. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the BBBS office at (208) 377-2552.  We look forward to seeing you on the lanes!
